I was doing some paperwork for my mom a few years ago with her official documents and I looked at her naturalization paperwork + birth certificate.

When she immigrated to America she made one of her last names her middle name so she could keep both last names. I was reading one of her certificates and I saw her maiden name. “Castillo? Isn’t this wrong where’s your middle name” and then she told me the story.
